Walk Through History Army reserve Center; St Johns District, Portland, Oregon


the 3/505th was represented by Sam Kimpton at this benefit for the Universtiy Park "Loaves & Fishes" Center in the St. Johns Distric of Portland on Saturday 22 June. This organization provides free meals to elderly shut ins who otherwise go with out eating. Trooper Kimpton set up an equipment layout for public inspection and as a result we recieved the following letter from the Loaves & Fishes Manager:


"Dear Sam;

Thank you very much for your support of and participation in University Park Loaves & Fishes first ever Walk Through history fundraiser. This special event walk-a-thon to benefit University Park Loaves & Fishes senior nutrition program attracted several fine exhibitors and provided an excellent opportunity for citizens of North Portland to become better informed about health, the environment, and the cultural history of their neighborhood.

Your participation as an exhibitor gave our walkers the opportunity to gain greater appreciation of the importance of the rich contribution that soldiers throughout American history have made to this neighborhood. In joining with our other exhibitors you helped expand the positive influence of this event and helped as a comunity to embrace more innovative and organized neighborthood activities here in North Portland.

As with everything that is new, we can learn from this first effort and make this event bigger and better next time. We are currently considering trying this again in the Fall of 2002, perhaps October or November, when the trees shower us withtheir glorious fall color. We would be honored to have you participate again as one of our excellent exhibitors.

On belhalf of the approximately 160 seniors we serve each day at University Park Loaves & Fishes, I thank you for caring and contributing. I look forward to working together on more special events in the future.
