Membership in the 3/505th PIR

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE 505th PIR (AHA)?


THE 3rd Battalion 505th Parachute Infantry regiment is always interested in aquiring new members in North Western Oregon and South western Washington who's interests lie within the scope of our activities. As stipulated in the organizations mission statement


"The 505th PIR is an organization composed of historians, living historians, collectors, and educators dedicated to the preservation of and fostering interest in the history, traditions, and equipment of the United States Airborne forces of World War Two.

This Organization is based in the Pacific Northwest and serves to accomplish its goals through the following activities:
  • Technical support to museums and veterans organizations
  • Restoration and preservation of military equipment and other artifacts associated with Airborne history
  • Educational instruction and displays to schools, organizations, and the general public.
  • Living history interpretation.
  • Publication of material related to Airborne history, traditions, equipment and practices.

The 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment is not a political or religious organization. Nor does it operate for profit. Funding for our activities is out of pocket in nature. Our only motive is as outlined above."



WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP ACRUE TO YOU?


As a member of the 505th PIR (AHA) you will be entitled to participate in group activities, recieve our newsletter and recieve announcements pertaining to our activities through our electronic announcement service; The AHA list. The 505th is a good group of people and we look out for each other.



DO YOU NEED ANY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS TO JOIN?


Of course any skills which might be helpful in fullfilling our purpose is an asset but, aside from enthusiasm, the desire to contribute through participation, a love of history, willingness to learn and to meet certain guidelines in putting together an airborne impression or uniform. we have no special requirements or dues for membership.



WHAT DOES IT COST TO BE A MEMBER?


Nothing! We have no membership dues at this time.
