Start of a long summer
Given the fact that the original hull was warped severely and I did not have the facilities for steaming plywood, I was forced
to use 16 individual pieces of plywood in my reconstruction.
How did this happen in the first place?
Thats a long story.
Basically, the two pieces of plywood that make up the bottom had a quarter inch gap between them. Once water got in through a crack in the paint it simply soaked the plywood for the entire length of the boat. The paint masked the fact that the wood was rotting until it was too late.
