To place an international phone call you need four things:
Conversely, to call Canada and the USA from outside of those two countries, you dial your international access code (varies from country to country), then 1 for North America (covers both Canada and the USA), then a 3 digit area code, then the local number.
In-country routing codes, called area codes in North America, are often shown with a (0) preceding them. In many countries one dials 0 to access the telephone exchange. This access digit (0) is not used when dialing in from outside of the country. For example, to call my property management agent in Portugal from outside of Portugal you dial: international access then 351 289 397573 where 351 is the country code for Portugal, 289 is the routing code, and 397573 is the phone number. From inside Portugal you would also dial 289 397573 to call this same phone although in other countries, such as the UK, you would dial the 0 first.
So, to phone Shirley Dunne Villa Management from North America you will dial:
To send a fax to Shirley you dial: 011 351 289 399294
Of course you may also email them at algarve.villas@mail.telepac.pt
On the other hand, to phone Bruce Ward in Vancouver Canada from England you would dial:
To send a fax to Bruce you dial: 00 1 604 684 6185
You may also email him at brward@bruceward.com
