My Only Sunshine, by Kate (sirkate@yahoo.com) and Mercutio (mercutio@europa.com)
Pairing: Justin and Joey
Words: cruise; dazzle; enamel; embers
Joey likes piercings. Their public likes Joey's piercings. PR
doesn't so much like them, but still. So, rather than get a tattoo
at the parlor Justin drags him to, he gets a new piercing. The
entire drive back home is filled with anticipatory silence. Joey
waiting to see what new message has been painted on Justin's skin
and Justin expecting to find the same thing on Joey. As they
cruise along, Joey grins to himself, wondering how Justin will
react to the piercings. It should be fun.
"So where'd you get it?" Justin asks as soon as they're in the
door.
"Nuh-uh. You first. It was your idea, so you have to show first,"
Joey replies, heading up for Justin's bedroom.
Justin follows him. "No way. It was my idea, so you owe me."
"Why would I owe you?" Joey asks, grabbing Justin in a headlock and
dragging him along.
Justin tries to trip Joey. "Because you've been needing new ink
and you know it."
Joey stumbles, but doesn't fall. He releases Justin at the bedroom
door and continues on in. "Play strip poker for it?" he suggests,
smiling hugely to dazzle Justin.
"No fair. You know mine's gonna show the second I take my shirt
off." Justin's wearing a t-shirt and a low-slung pair of shorts.
He'd kicked his shoes off at the door.
"So? Don't lose."
Justin snorts. "I'd only have to lose one hand, multi-layer man.
I don't even know which piece of clothing to demand that you take
off."
Joey shakes his head. "Baby. You show first."
"Fine," Justin grumbles, but really, he's okay with it. He just
wants there to be a little more fuss made about it. He pulls his
shirt up a little and peels back the bandage covering the new
tattoo on the crease between his stomach and thigh. He thrusts his
hip out to let Joey examine it.
Joey swallows hard. "Jesus. I wanna lick it."
"Yeah?" Justin's pleased. He'd wanted to get a reaction, even if
Joey's the only one who's going to get what this tattoo's about.
"Oh, yeah," Joey says. He makes himself look away so he doesn't go
right ahead and do that.
Justin covers it back up. It needs to heal, but when it's done, he
doesn't have to worry about it. Anybody can see it who wants to.
Kanji are very popular right now, and even if someone recognizes
the one that's the closest thing to 'sunshine' that he could find,
they won't get it.
Joey has to shake his head hard to get his brain back online.
"Justin, you amaze me sometimes, kid."
"What? I can do tasteful."
"You did do tasteful," Joey says. "And sexy at the same time."
Justin scowls. "It was supposed to be romantic."
"It is, that too. It's just that I'm all but drooling here.
Sorry."
"No, drooling's good. I like drooling. But what did you get?"
Joey strips off his top shirt. The undershirt is tight enough that
the hoops on his chest should be pretty visible. Still, he pulls
that shirt off too and waits for Justin's judgment.
Justin looks him up and down. Then walks around him. "No tattoo?"
Joey rolls his eyes. "No."
"Huh." Justin comes back around to the front. His eyes drop to
the hoops. "They're nice," he says. "Gonna be fun to play with."
Somewhere, deep down, he's disappointed that Joey didn't want a
permanent reminder of him. Piercings heal.
Joey sighs. "Here's the real rings. For when I can change them,"
he says. He hands the little box to Justin. Each hoop holds an
enameled tag reading JRT on one side and JAF on the other.
"Oh," Justin says, touching them. "That's... wow. Really cool."
He gives Joey a dazzling smile. "I like that. A lot."
Joey smiles with only half his mouth. "You sure?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"I wasn't sure if you would. It's just... tattoos are permanent,
but they don't change. And we keep changing and getting better.
So, y'know, I thought something I could have forever, but still
change."
"You're making me look bad here," Justin warns him, smile still
present. "Like my tattoo was a stupid idea."
"It wasn't. I love it. You have less stupid tattoos than I do,
though. Like, you're a more fitting canvass. Besides, I'm gonna
get fat and wrinkly before long, and I don't think I want my
memento of you all flabby."
Justin snorts. "Less stupid? That wasn't what you said when you
saw my last tattoo." Everyone had raked him over the coals for the
angel tattoo. The embers were still glowing.
"Yeah, well. It's just the one." Joey grabs Justin and pulls him
down onto the bed. "Besides. You had your reasons."
"Still do."
"Good." Joey settles his head on Justin's shoulder. His hand
rests just above its usual spot -- just over the tattoo.
Justin smiles at the feeling of Joey's hand. The new tattoo's
right where Joey likes to touch him best, at that spot that makes
Joey all lustful when Justin lets it show. It's just the curve of
his hip. It's barely pornographic at all. But it turns Joey on.
Joey licks Justin's shoulder idly. "Love you, brat."
"Sing the song for me."
Joey fakes a put-upon sigh. "You are my sunshine, my only
sunshine..."
Justin settles happily. There'll be sex later, with nipple biting
and tattoo licking and lots of other fun stuff. But this is the
part he likes best. Being Joey's sunshine.
Joey finishes. "You can't ever take my sunshine away now," he
notes.
"Never wanted to."
"Good." After a few minutes Joey asks. "So. Nice shoes. Wanna
fuck?"
Justin laughs. "I'm not wearing shoes, but sure."
"Good deal," Joey says, sliding down. "Looks like it's gonna be a
good day."
