Julie the budgie takes a bath

Bath time !

She started out chasing Posy's water bottle, so we put some water in a wee dish for her.

Mmmm Nummy!

Obviously she took right to it.

Where's her head ?!

In between the pictures she would hop out and dance gleefully around.

dip dip dip

We had pictures of her dancing but they were quite blurry !

Wheeee!

"Here's water in yer eye ! "

OOoooooohhh ! Water!

She was a verry happy and excited bird.

a little water here and a little water there

Then we got the spray bottle and sprayed her a little as we do the big birds.

Wheee

She reallly liked that too!

hokey pokey

One foot in one foot out and you shake it all about .

waters fine

She liked to hear the water splash.

splish splash

Almost done .

climbing

" Ok, now I'm done ."

She flew up to Posy's shoulder to dry off.
She feels great now. Water good !
She also enjoys sitting on our shoulders and whispering (and shrieking)
sweet nothings into our ears. She says her best stuff from our shoulders :>

Birds need frequent baths and/or showers. it can be hard to time well, as you do not want them to get too cold  or to take it too late in the day so that they will dry off before nightfall.
it is worth the effort though because they *really* enjoy it. Some birds are reluctant bathers. A spray bottle of fine misted water might help, or a wee sturdy shallow bowl, or even a clean lettuce leaf sprayed with water for them to fluffle about in. Once they start bathing most birds become enthusiastic imbibers . After they are often quite hungry, takes a lot out of you :>
