'Maahhhvelous!' -not ! Hi, Iam Zanny also known as QZ. I am a single mom in my mid 30's.
I usedto live in Portland . Now I live in Milwaukie.Both are in the stunning state of Oregon . We moved into a lovely home and we are thrilled ! We have hardwood floors and lots of big windows with flowers outside every window though out most of the year .We have the nicest yard to have our barbecues and a table to picnic and draw and play at. We spend a LOT of time outside , weather permitting and it is so peaceful and pretty here. We are VERY glad we moved ! We have a lot of fun with our gardens- both flower and food. This year we grew beans and lettuce and tomatoes and cucumbers and greens and fennel and peas- to name a few. We also lined the gardens with real horse shoes!I worka lot but for the most part I enjoy my job and I get to spend a LOT of time with my kids and at home. I have type 2 diabetes, something I found out a couple years ago. That was the start of my very cool soup exploration.
We do a variety of things, from frequent visits to the library and listening to my dads jazz band play to things at school and visits to the local parks.
We have a lot of birds and two cats who we enjoy spending time with.
We all enjoy swimming . I swim the most , going several times a week.
We had our bathroom remodeled here and we can't tell you how happy we are about that. It was especially nice to not have to do the work ourselves!
We also really enjoy all the stuff we do on the computer. We don't do all the video games though. We do web pages ,e-mail , digital cam and web cam pics and web exploring . The games we do play are solitaire- mah jong -Worlds Away(a virtual world) and Sims.

I have a rather varied taste in music . I cannot *sing , but I do know an awful lot of lyrics that I mutter along with when I am alone- or can pretend I am :) I have put a list o'stuff that I like below .

I also love parrots . I have had them through out my life . For the last decade or so my main bird has been Emily. She is an African Gray . She speaks mainly in my voice and keeps us laughing with her antics and deft turn of phrase. She is also very empathetic and cuddly . Lucy is my Amazon . She is quite shy and gentle. She clucks like a chicken and trills when she is happy . She is very happy now so we hear a LOT of trilling. I also enjoy cats . I am partial to calicos.

While we have many many interests a fave has come to the forefront over the last year. Dolls :) I have always loved them and had them as decorations and around the house and on my Christmas tree every year. Well over the last year we have phased out other 'collections' in favor of our dolls. I am list owner of two doll lists, and one of them has almost 200 members. That group has well over 6000 messages a month! Luckily we have a panel of interesting and talented women to help run things :) Here are some of the first doll pages I did. I have since done many many mannny more of these kinds of stories for my daughters and her friends and for my friends on the doll list.I also sew a lot, both things for the house and the girls and for friends, but mainly for these demanding little clothes horse dolls :B Yes my family thinks I am off kilter- and they are right. Thank goodness :B

How do you write about yourself without sounding horribly self-centered?
Well here goes :) I'd like to think that there are more then a few interesting things about me - but certainly the most important (at least for awhile)is that I am a mother. A single mother even. This tends to skew my view on most things . Some people get it , some do not . It's what is the main focus of my life , and even with all the hard stuff- downsides - problems, it is what I am happiest doing and being :)
Meanwhile, I am many and do many things :) I am an artist -a sometime/onetime musician of sorts . I sew and cook and bake and paint and garden and read and read and read ! I love to fly fish -'tho I do not get to very often .
I hope you will come back often to share this journey of our lives and into the digs of old and new computer workings. Did I mention I learned all this on an XT ? That meant no graphics or (haha!) a mouse. Noooo , no point and click here baby , I was a manual kind o' gal. Thank goodness I am somewhat updated . A bit here - a thingy there . I am still behind the times - a sit were , but I am MUCH better off then I was a few years ago !
